Earlier this year, we at Northern Film Orchestra were delighted to be involved in a very special creative collaboration with the innovative kids' audio company, Yoto. Known for their award-winning children's audio players and beautifully designed story cards that inspire children’s imaginations, Yoto is at the forefront of bringing screen-free storytelling into homes around the world, and we were thrilled to be invited to contribute to two of their latest offerings.

Angelina Ballerina – 5-Minute Stories
One of the standout highlights of our partnership was recording the original score for Angelina Ballerina – 5-Minute Stories. This charming Yoto card features a collection of short tales following Angelina’s everyday adventures, from ballet classes with Miss Lilly to ice-skating escapades and heart-warming moments with family and friends.
Composer Louie Taylor crafted bespoke music that perfectly captures the rhythm, elegance and playful spirit of Angelina’s world. The Northern Film Orchestra had the pleasure of performing this score in our recording venue The Stoller Hall, with the music playing a vital role in shaping the emotional arc of each story and drawing listeners deeper into the narrative. Miffy Story Time Collection
We were equally proud to contribute to the Miffy Story Time Collection, a beautifully curated set of 19 stories featuring the beloved bunny on gentle adventures filled with curiosity, friendship and discovery.
This project marked an exciting milestone for Yoto, as it features their first fully custom orchestral score.
Composed again by Louie Taylor the music was carefully designed to support and enhance the storytelling, adding warmth, emotional depth and subtle magic to scenes ranging from Miffy at the Zoo to Miffy’s Garden.

We’re especially thrilled that Miffy Story Time Collection has been recognised at the British Audio Awards, winning Best Audiobook: Children’s, a prestigious accolade celebrating excellence in audio production, narration and sound design. Judges praised the project for its warmth, creativity and the way music and narration come together to create an immersive listening experience. This award is a wonderful testament to the collaboration between Yoto, composer Louie Taylor, narrator Hannah Melbourn and the entire NFO team.
A Creative Partnership
Working with Yoto and Louie Taylor has been a truly rewarding experience. It’s been a joy to see how live orchestral music can elevate children’s listening experiences, adding warmth, wonder and atmosphere to stories that families will return to again and again.
We’re extremely proud to have been part of these imaginative projects, and we hope listeners everywhere enjoy the musical worlds we helped create! We hope you enjoyed checking out this post!
